Description

LESSON OVERVIEW

In this lesson, students talk about reading and practise some vocabulary related to books. They read an article about why adults don’t read and discuss their experience.

This is a Critical Reading Club worksheet. With this format, students need to read an online article at home and do the exercises in the classroom. Learn more about how to use such worksheets and their benefits in our post.

ACTIVITIES

As a warm-up, teachers can ask students to come up with words connected with books and reading starting with each letter of the alphabet. The worksheet also includes an activity in which students discuss some famous stories (e.g. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, The Lord of the Rings, The Little Prince). Then, students complete sentences with some useful words and decide if these statements are true or false for them. Students also talk about the benefits of reading mentioned in the article. As a final activity, students discuss questions about the article and other aspects connected to reading.
