The main goals of this ESL lesson plan are to:
- – Discuss and explore, in English, decision-making through famous ethical dilemmas and historical analysis.
- – Practice and apply English vocabulary, reading comprehension and critical thinking skills through varied activities about decision making and famous ethical dilemmas.
- – Utilize a video called “History vs. Che Guevara” to practice analytical skills in English.
Warm-up
Students will start with a conversation activity about an ethical dilemma scenario related to a runaway trolley.
Video
Students will watch a video called, “History vs. Che Guevara”. Afterwards, students will complete a comprehension activity through a “we do” series of questions.
Exercises
In this “you do” part of the lesson, students will continue to apply and practice their skills with English vocabulary about decision making through categorization and “fill in the blank”.
Reading
Students will read a passage about decision making and “simple solutions”. Afterwards, they will complete a comprehension activity through a “you do” series of questions.
Wrap Up
In the final “you do” activity for the lesson, students will discuss a chart related to violent crime and the numbers of violent crimes reported in several different countries.
