LESSON OVERVIEW
In this CRC lesson, students get a chance to talk about ways technology can help with productivity. They read an article about various productivity apps, express their opinions on the matter and share their experiences.
This is a Critical Reading Club worksheet. With this format, students need to read an online article at home and do the exercises in the classroom. Learn more about how to use such worksheets and their benefits in our post.
ACTIVITIES
The worksheet starts with a warm-up. Students look at the list of different tasks (e.g. water plants, give a pet their monthly medicine, prioritize tasks, etc.) and brainstorm how technology can help them with these tasks. Then, students do a vocabulary activity. They have to complete sentences by choosing one of the words (e.g. mishap vs mashup, errands vs errors, customizable vs accustomed, etc.). After the completion, students look at the sentences again, choose four and think of productivity apps they know or have used that these sentences describe. Students also summarize the article and the author’s opinion by reading the quote. At the end of the worksheet, they get to express their opinion about things related to productivity apps. They work in pairs, read the sentences and say whether they are true for them. Students can also ask each other follow-up questions.
