LESSON DESCRIPTION

In this ESL lesson plan for adults and teens, students watch a short video report and do a viewing/listening exercise about a clean energy plant that also functions as a ski slope. It includes discussion questions and conversation activities about clean and sustainable energy and power plants. Students also learn some important vocabulary terms and phrases from the video. The post-viewing section includes follow-up discussion questions and activities on verb + noun combinations from the video. There is an additional hedonistic sustainability task included, an optional bonus activity, and a quiz & review section.

In Copenhagen, Denmark lies Amager Bakke, a unique power plant. Not only is it the world’s cleanest waste-to-energy facility, it’s also home to a man-made mountain called CopenHill with its own ski slope, the world’s tallest climbing wall and challenging hiking trails up the building where you’ll find the best views of Copenhagen.
