Description

LESSON OVERVIEW

This is a Flipped Classroom lesson plan. In a nutshell, it means that the first part of the lesson needs to be done by students at home. Learn more about flipped classroom and how we implement it in these lesson plans in our post.

PRE-CLASS ACTIVITIES

In the first pre-class activity students need to complete phrasal verbs with given words. To check their answers, students need to watch the video. The second exercise focuses on vocabulary as well. Students match adjectives with nouns to create popular expressions. They can check their answers by reading the transcript of the video.

IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES

In‐class activities include a discussion about the talk as well as the idea of bringing more positive language to our classrooms.

First, students need to answer questions which concern the video and the speaker’s idea. Some of the questions contain phrasal verbs from the pre-class worksheet, so you can easily check whether your students have done their homework and understand phrasal verbs.

Next, students move to a short text about using positive language in the classroom and school. They have to decide whether they agree or disagree with the text. After that, students need to paraphrase expressions to make them more positive and more appropriate to use by educators, teachers, etc. Finally, they can compare their answers with the table adopted from www.weareteachers.com.
