In this advanced lesson, students learn some language related to money and cryptocurrencies and discuss what the fact that Bitcoin has gone mainstream entails.

ACTIVITIES
The lesson starts with a warm-up activity during which students share what they know about cryptocurrencies and consider why people are so excited about them. Next, students move on to a word formation activity in which they need to create words useful when talking about both digital currencies and money in general (e.g. legal tender, remittances). They then discuss what some of the phrases from the sentences mean (e.g. market capitalization, convertible virtual currencies). After that, they discuss questions which contain the target language. The questions refer to the article students read before the lesson, but also expand on the topic of cryptocurrencies. Finally, students reflect upon the future of digital currencies.
