Description

LESSON OVERVIEW

In this Critical Reading Club lesson, students discuss the idea of living in a small house and having fewer possessions. They also learn some useful vocabulary to talk about the topic.

This is a Critical Reading Club worksheet. With this format, students need to read an online article at home and do the exercises in the classroom. Learn more about how to use such worksheets and their benefits in our post.

ACTIVITIES

The lesson starts with a short discussion about the article students read at home. Then, students create some questions by matching their halves. The questions contain some useful vocabulary (e.g. accumulate, be tempted, be held hostage). Students also discuss the questions. Then, they look at a list of ideas on how to minimise the number of possessions (e.g. not replacing electronics until they are completely worn out and beyond repair). They also talk about the advantages of such decisions and share whether they would consider making these decisions.
