Description

Lesson overview

The main goals of this ESL lesson plan are to:

  • – learn vocabulary about dreams and future plans while practicing how to make suggestions using “could,” “let’s,” and “shall” through reading exercises and real-life scenarios about weekend planning;
  • – improve listening and reading comprehension by watching a video about childhood career dreams, completing true/false activities, and working with texts that show suggestion-making in context;
  • – develop speaking and interaction skills through discussing how children think about their futures, participating in comprehension activities, and playing card games that encourage natural conversation between students and teachers.

In this A2 ESL lesson plan, the students will learn new vocabulary related to their dreams and hopes for the future. They will also learn to make suggestions (could, let’s, shall).

Warm-Up

For the icebreaker, students will discuss how kids plan their future.

Video

After watching the “What do you want to be when you grow up?” video, students will answer a number of questions to check their comprehension of the clip.

Exercises

In this section, the students will decide whether the statements are true or false and complete a gap-fill exercise.

Reading

Students will read a short text that is filled with examples of the words could, let’s, shall for making suggestions about plans for a Saturday.

Discussion

This final section consists of a “pick a card” game between the student and the teacher.
