The main goals of this ESL lesson plan are to:
- – build vocabulary around curiosity and gossip through reading texts about these behaviors, watching videos that explore the differences between healthy curiosity and harmful nosiness, and completing exercises that reinforce new terminology;
- – improve comprehension and analytical skills by examining how curiosity functions in daily life, distinguishing between productive curiosity and destructive gossip, and working with true/false statements that test understanding;
- – enhance speaking and discussion abilities through exploring the role of curiosity in everyday situations, sharing personal thoughts about when curiosity becomes problematic, and participating in card-based conversation games that encourage spontaneous dialogue about social behaviors.
In this Upper-Intermediate ESL lesson, students will learn new vocabulary related to curiosity and gossip. They will also discuss different statements associated with curiosity and gossip in a “pick a card” game.
