In this Upper-Intermediate lesson plan, the student learns about the differences between adjectives and adverbs, and how to use them correctly.

Warm-up

In the warm-up part, the student picks the sentence with the correct use of adjectives/adverbs.

They learn the basic difference between adjectives and adverbs.

Video: Adjective or adverb?

The student watches a BBC Learning English video that explains and exemplifies the difference between adjectives and adverbs. Then, they identify the correct sentences based on the video and correct the flawed ones.

They learn about the differences between British and American English regarding the use of the two.

The student decides if the underlined words are adjectives or adverbs. Then, they complete sentences with the missing adjectives/adverbs.

In the wrap-up part, they sum up what they learned about these two parts of speech.
