LESSON DESCRIPTION

In this ESL lesson plan for adults and teens, students watch an informative video about Saint Patrick’s Day and a basic overview of its history and traditions. It includes discussion questions, and conversation and vocabulary activities about Saint Patrick’s Day, Ireland, national heritage, and traditions. Students then do some listening/viewing comprehension activities based on the video. The viewing follow-up includes a follow-up discussion on Saint Patrick’s Day, and two activities on key phrases from the video to describe the history and traditions of national holidays. There is a ‘Research & Presentation Task’ on a national holiday of students’ choice, as well as a quiz & review and lesson reflection included.
