LESSON DESCRIPTION

In this ESL lesson plan for adults and teens, students watch a video and do a listening exercise about what happens to social media accounts when someone dies. It includes discussion questions and conversation activities about social media. Students also learn some important vocabulary terms, phrases, and expresions from the video. There is a section on prepositions included. The grammar exercise features some different functions of ‘would.’ There is a quiz and review section with a bonus activity included.

VIDEO DESCRIPTION

There are over 2 billion users on Facebook today. Social media continues to grow and evolve, and one of the next steps in the evolution has become “dead social” – a network that lets you program what happens to your online digital legacy beyond the grave. One woman even created an online “chat bot” of her friend, allowing her to communicate with her friend after he passed away!
