LESSON OVERVIEW

The lesson plan is based on the TED talk by Amit Sood titled “Building a museum of museums on the web” about Google’s Art Project. The lesson itself is about art and museums. Students have a lot of opportunity for expressing likes and dislikes in these areas.

EXPRESSING LIKES AND DISLIKES

The worksheet starts with a warm-up task. This is a discussion on statements on various aspects of museums. Students have to decide whether they agree with them or not. Then, they have to brainstorm phrases for expressing likes and dislikes which they will be using in a discussion about their interests in the next exercise.

VOCABULARY AND VIDEO

After that, students move to a task on vocabulary. They get a list of sentences with the underlined words in them. Their task is to match the words from sentences with their meanings. The vocabulary from this exercise appears in the video. Next, they move to watch the talk and listen to the speaker’s idea. In order to discuss questions about the speech, first, students have to complete them with correct forms of the words from the previous task. Finally, their last activity is to discuss these questions.
